hi, we splitted the iso and here're the links: old release (version 2.5.*) based on openSUSE-11.0: http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=029141bdb9b70189ab1eab3e9fa335ca5da521b656b43286 new one (version 3.0.0) based on openSUSE-11.1: http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=029141bdb9b7018991b20cc0d07ba4d28098080343143860 > md5sum suse-11.1-Enlightenment-live-iso.i686-3.0.0.iso 671b3359e570f699fd83a42c7750a5a3 suse-11.1-Enlightenment-live-iso.i686-3.0.0.iso size is 732528640 bytes (699Mb) download all into a single folder and use the following to extract: rar x iso.part1.rar don't use 'unrar' (you only waste some time with it). visit rarlab.com if you don't have this archiver. at the end you should see this: suse-11.0-live-iso.i686-2.5.5.iso 726202368 (bytes) > md5sum suse-11.0-live-iso.i686-2.5.5.iso bd51a023899553ec88e0cec83a4e20a6 suse-11.0-live-iso.i686-2.5.5.iso brief instruction: * easy way boot from CD. there should be a prompt to select boot mode. but services are started 'in parallel' and the prompt could just be overlapped by service messages. it's ok. you can wait a bit, then press 3 and Enter. login as 'root' (root/soad) into the text mode (tty). issue: install_ATI_drivers and choose option 1 - build from precompiled package. if drivers compilation return an error, please don't start 'Sax2' and 'Entrance' (you will be asked about it). press: n and Enter on both questions. and just repeat the command: install_ATI_drivers there should be no segfaults. some minor errors are not suffisient, ignore them. * hard way first step is the same - login in tty console as root. then you need to establish the Internet Connection, ping gmail.com (to ensure all is set) and start: install_ATI_drivers now you can select option 2 - build from ATI sources (require internet connection). the latest ATI drivers will be downloaded and installed from ati.com (approx 63Mb of your traffic - that's why we not included such huge 'package' into the LiveCD). the rest is up to you. follow the instructions. if things are ok, welcome to install the system to the hard drive. after update the kernel will be upgraded to the new version and probably the old 'fglrx' driver refuse to work as it should. that's ok. boot with: init 3 login as 'root' into the console and start: install_ATI_drivers driver for your new kernel will be compiled and installed in the same way as for LiveCD. for NVIDIA the procedure is the same. but you need to issue install_NVIDIA_drivers command instead of 'install_ATI_drivers'. we put legacy and current 177.80 NVIDIA drivers on the disk. no Internet Connection required for NVIDIA. we decided to include the sources and build drivers from scratch because several reports indicated that precompiled drivers doesn't work and any kernel update can break them as well. that's why only build from scratch can assure proper driver compilation. livecd is a bit tricky, so there could be some failures due to the properties of CDROM-Drive, speed of the disk and so on. for ATI things are working straight forward: 1) precompiled driver package rpm install creates a custom 'fglrx' driver for a running kernel (or downloaded package from ati.com proceed with an ordinary build routine) 2) ldconfig updates the cache of a libraries (we have a new OpenGL here) 3) aticonfig --initial creates a new 'xorg.conf' with 'fglrx' driver set 4) Sax2 allow fine tuning of the X server settings (also with 'fglrx' driver) 5) and Entrance is started for a session management that's why if build resulted in errors/segfaults it's not recommended to proceed with 'Sax2' and 'Entrance' (system can suspend as it was reported before). i hope you have a couple of CD-RW disks and a nice burner/recorder. unfortunately i can't say that the disk is 'rock solid' and works all the way. it was tested for ATI: 9600, 9800, X300, X800, X1800; NVIDIA: 6600/GT, 7600, 8600 series + mobile chipsets. looks like the most important here is proper burn of iso (may be use lower speed, 4x-10x, usual CD magic is here) and if build ended with segfaults - just repeat once more (without 'Sax2' and 'Entrance'): install_ATI_drivers or install_NVIDIA_drivers commangs for system maintenance/update: zypper ref zypper up -t package just hope that this time things should work. if not - my deepest apologizes that you've spent your time and thanks a lot for your feedback. it is really awesome and helps us a lot. best regards, sda
